Scott Tom and Joe - I was at the Global Gas Station this morning and heard BE ON TIME on the AMP Radio Network. Great music - Hey - I have learned most (I think) of the songs on Racket of Three on guitar and can't believe you guys pull it off live they are trickier than they sound. Looking forward to the next cd - Rod (Rod E, roadeye1@yahoo.com, Springfield, MA)

You guys freakin\' rocked last night in Hartford and I'm glad I made it the the show after such a lousy week at work. Also really enjoyed Hilton Valentine and his band and I could tell it you did too from the respect and props you showed. His show really showed were it all came from, and rock and roll is alive and well. Looking forward to the next cd and please keep sending me emails about upcoming Sons shows. Roadeye
(Rod, roadeye1@yahoo.com north of the border, MA) ______________________________________________________________
Hey Mambo Sons - Great showlast night at Black Eyeds. Tom - thought your intro for Hilton Valentine showed alot of class and those guitars sounded killer. Scott - your voice and new bass cut thru nicely - Joe - sounded great as usual. Get back in the studio so I can get the 4th cd. Cheers, Mark (Mark,
Farmington, CT msull269@snet.net) ______________________________________________________________

2008 - New Mambo Sons CD in rehearsal stages. Working Title "Heavy Days". We have got lots of heavy stuff to drop on you
this time around. Working titles include a 'Zep styled' rocker called,
"Only Woman"; also a speed rocker entitled "She Just Wants To Ride". I am lowering a 'lower boom' this time around, with a new
bass (a Charlie Calmese 'tribute' Yamaha) and we decided
that (aside of a few really well written softer delta blues & countrified numbers) Joe, T-Bone and myself owe it to
the music community that won't be able to see Led Zeppelin
('cause they are not touring... my prediction) to show
everyone how Rock & Roll is really supposed to get done. Hope you all come see us with Hilton in April (he's a
legend, and we need to get him on fuzz guitar for one song!)
Meanwhile... gotta get back to the new songs! Peace,
Scotty (Scotty Mambo, Northampton, MA

Hi Tom and Co.,
Just writing to let you know that I dig what you are doing - you have come up with great tunes and I wish you the best. Keep it up! Cheers, Mac (Mac, Manor, TX)

Fantastic show at Black Eyed Sallys last night. That Zematis guitar was the bomb. I also enjoyed the new tunes, epecially Hendrix tunes. Keep your Eyes on the Road! John (John H., Hartford, CT)

T-Bone, Looking forward to catching you guys at Black-Eyed
Sally's on Thursday. I'm sure the boys from 696 ("It's
Better On Top") will be hootin' and hollerin'. How
about a throwback to your Dirty Bones roots that night?
Maybe a little "Slippin'?" Joe Delia (Joe Delia jldelia@hotmail.com)

Hi Tom,
I caught Mambo Sons with my bud last fall. I really enjoy Racket of Three. Just ordered the other two CD's today.
I look forward to bringing my son out to catch a gig. Here's what he has to say..."how come these guys aren't on the radio?" I've dispelled his naivety about any connection between talent and fame.
Keep fighting the good fight.
TB (Tom Brady, woodburybradys@sbcglobal.net)

Yo, T-Bone with the killa tone -how goes it? I saw the ToneQuest interview on my way to Japan, nice, nice, nice. Great exposure...wanna do my PR? Cheers,

Tom - great bio in ToneQuest. I picked up the 3 Mambo sons cds from amazon and gotta say you are now one of my new favorite guitarists! Good luck in the future. RoadEye, (roadeye1@yahoo.com, Chicago, IL) ______________________________________________________________
Hi Tom, I'm a guitarist from Mobile and just got the new ToneQuest magazine with your interview. I just checked out the mp3s on your site and want to say that I can totally dig the stuff you are doing with the Mambo Sons group. If you ever get down this way, I'd like to hook up. I'm alos a fan of old Fenders too. Thx Ronnie (Ronnie Gartin, Mobile, AL) ______________________________________________________________
Hey guys! Good to see your still going strong! Great tunes...love that "Play some Rock 'n Roll Tune" Jay ( jaynocera@aol.com http://www.buddyandhopkins.com) ______________________________________________________________
I have to agree with Uncle Dave, "So Wonderful" is just that! Sure it has its own Mambo sound, but it has a certain "Mr. Mojo Risin gets smacked around by Jimi" kinda feel too. Love it!! Joe Delia (jldelia@hotmail.com, Norwalk, CT)
______________________________________________________________
Hey Tom, I got your cd in a week or two ago. I apologise for taking so long to respond, ive been listening to alot of albums in my collection lately. I really like this album. I think i like it better than .....Play Some Rock n Roll. Once again, i love that 54 RI Custom thats on the cover. Those are one of my fav LPs. Did you use it on any of the tracks? Eat a Peach, Jacob
(Jrw8214@aol.com, TX)

2006 is closing. It was the year of The Racket. We had some great shows, and some fantastic reviews. Hope you all enjoy the free MP3. It might be part of a blues and blues rock tribute, which I have been pushing for awhile now. I am starting to play a little blues harp (how does one do that and play bass? not easily, and not well) and the whole Little Walter thing is just so good. I like Junior Wells too. I could put it thru my princeton amp! Watch out! Have a Merry Christmas & a Happy Blue Year! Scotty Mambo (Scotty Mambo, Slawsonnoho@aol.com, MA)
______________________________________________________________
Hey Mambo Sons - So Wonderful FREEKIN' ROCKS! Cant wait to hear it live. Did I detect some Hendrix in there? See you in 2007 (Uncle Dave, Hamden CT)

Tom, Hanging out and bored with the internet and typed in Hartford bands. To my surprise, I found that you are in this band. I still have the demo tape of what we worked on in 94. You played guitar and I played keys. Left the business and moved to Georgia in 96. Married with one son and one stepdaughter. How are you and your band doing?

Hi Tom! Today the CD's was coming to my box and it was a great time when I come home and put ot in to my CD player. I must say it is absolutely great music with a lot of fun listening. You realy play "Some Rock & Roll!" - the original rock & roll sound with guitar, bass and drums. The CD's is a great input to my LP and CD collection and I'm really glad we have the contact. I will talk more about the songs when I have listen more, but right now I can say I like your guitarplaying very much. Thank you again for your great help to me and the chance I get to listen to your music!
all best rockin' / Johan Ps. Very, very sad with Link Wray.

I suggest a dinner show at Theodore's. Just like we did at Black Eyed Sally's.
Everyone came out to eat and looked forward to hearing us, but when you don't go on until 10:15PM? People who have been there since 6-7PM are now falling asleep by 9PM.
If we went on 45 minutes sooner, they would have woken up, and stayed for an extra hour or so, at least!
Thanks to all who stuck it out. Scott Lawson (SLawsonnoho@aol.com riverbanks, MA)

Congratulations on your cd release party you guys were one of the best live bands I've seen for that rock and roll mentality. Love the new disc and hope Sallys gets you back soon. I loved the blues stuff you did too and most importantly it looked like you were having a good time. Pat (Pat M. Rocky Hill, CT)

Tom, Racket of Three is awesome! I've been listening to it non-stop for the past week or so. The album has a great rock and roll vibe, and as usual you and your bandmates have lots of energy and a great feel for the music. Of course, I like the guitar parts the most. Keep on picking! Fantastic overview on the life and playing times of the much revered and probably, in some quarters, mostly ignored Paul Kossoff. I still nurture and value the moving, overwhelming, magical experience of seeing FREE during their Australian Tour in the seventies. My son, a drummer, rates them along with Rage against the Machine, Ugly Kid Joe and Deep Purple- his greatest influence. I run an event called the Musician's Headquarters during the Tamworth Country Music Festival, one of Australia's largest festivals. Check my web site out at www.musiciansheadquarters.com.au
Thanks for a great read! jim (jim@musiciansheadquarters.com.au, Tamworth, nsw)

We played in the extreme heat and blazing sun for just under 40 minutes for Riverfest '05.... sweating like distance runners in the Congo. It's shows like that, where I am glad I dont have any hair (you've seen enough hats on this website to have figured that one out, though!) Thanks to those who came out. Scott (Scott Lawson, Noho, MA)

Hey Tom, (and Joe and Scott). I was going over my links and found that this one had changed. The site looks great! I'm hooking up with my old bandmate to do the duo thing again now that I have some time to gig (yeah right... I also have a 14 month old daughter at home.. go figure)... Anyway, long time! I gotta get out to hear ya soon!

Sorry it rained on us after only 5 songs (forcing us to scurry like small critters, when the light showers turned into lightning and monsoon rains) We will book a club gig in Willi, so that all the people who came to see us can get to hear more than 2 songs frm the new CD. Thanks for turning out! Scott (Scott Lawson, Noho, MA)

Just to say how much I enjoyed the stuff on Kossoff. Free Live still remains my most played piece of Vinyl and JK's sweet sustain has always been a mystery to me. Free still remain the best live act I can remember - a wonderful use of space in music leaves it uncluttered, where nothing is crowded or confined. Thanks for the memories!
Steve Wade (steve@destry.demon.co.uk, Birmingham, UK)

Just finished the bass tracks for our next CD, enitled "Racket of Three" (for the record, I used my Danelectro Longhorn) and I dont mind saying that the 12 songs we have recently layed down is some of the heaviest (and softest) stuff yet.
We started out thinking we would do an acoustic record (Like Led Zep 3) but we reconnected with Joe the Cat (who played a cameo role on the 1st CD) and then I found a demo of 5 songs that Tom had made riffs of back in 2001. Out of those riffs came the songs "Mister Rebound", "Sidewinder", "Valentine" and "Play Some Rock & Roll (She's Comin' Over)" the great, long lost track that we would have included on the last record, had I not packed it all into boxes and moved.
Led Zep 3 had some great rock & roll on side one, did it not? Scott (Scott Lawson, Noho, MA)

Tom, I first remember seeing you as a fill in guitarist, in Greg Witchell's band in a little dive bar on the Connecticut River in Holyoke, MA and were talkin proably 15 years ago. Not sure if you remember but I'm a bassist that was talking to you on break. I knew you had something then but was blown away when I picked up the Mambo Sons cds on amazon.com. Glad I found your website and am looking to hear the new music. Check out masslive.com Soundboard for posts - I've been talking to Roswell about you guys. John (John B., Chicopee, MA)

good to see a web site for one of the most underratedand andignored/forgotten heros of the golden-age of musicianship! In a time when more and faster was king (don't get me wrong, I loved them too) Kossoff was a master of feeling and understatement (kind of the british Neil Young?). I miss music with soul, but then the world seems to have lost it's, we just lost someone to cope with the situation! steve miller (leftythedrummer) (leftythedrummer@yahoo.com, Sacramento, CA)

Very nice site. I never get tired of visiting Beatles sites and most music sites in general. I perform in The Beatles tribute group Penny Lane and I'd like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit my site at www.beatlespennylane.com. The site is mainly about the group Penny Lane but there are also many rare Beatles mp3 free downloads, psychedelic art, live Penny Lane audio, live video, Beatles slang page, Beatles pictures, Penny Lane pics, Penny Lane guest book and a page about our Vox amplifiers that we use in our act. We're also open to link to sites that are Beatle oriented. Would you like to swap links? Ringo,(ringo@beatlespennylane.com)

Hello, Tom. Hope you are well. The Mambo Sons album has turned out to be one of my two favourite albums for the last six months alongside Joss Stone’s Soul Sessions and I haven’t stopped playing it. You just seem to have totally nailed the essence of rock guitar from the golden era. Great guitar tone, songwriting, band performance and above all, the real music! Thank you. I have put in the post my new release and love to hear what you think. Let me know what you are up to nowadays. Best, Saiichi (Saiichi Sugiyama, http://www.saiichi.com London, UK)

Hi Tom… I’m writing from Argentina. I’ve read your Ronnie Earl’s interview, wich is very awesowe... I like your playing, guitars and setup very much... we are Ronnie’s big fans here... we have all his records (almost)... and there’s a man, Rafael Nasta, who is the top bluesman here, who dedicated him his new release... So, if you don’t mind, do you know any more direct Ronnie’s email or post address than the appeared in his homepage? We’ll be very glad to know that Ronnie has several fans here, where his records are unexisting... and, more important, the possibility to send him the Rafael Nasta’s CD. Thank You, Tom, for your attention and time to read this email. We expect your answer...Pablo (Pablo Binderas, binderas2001@hotmail.com Argentina)

Full of spirit and joy. I'll be more than happy to present it to my listeners (when I play your songs I send you the playlists). I will also suggest reviewing your CD in one of the magazines I write to. Thank you again. Let's stay in touch. Best wishes from Poland, Przemek Draheim P.S.Long live rock'n'roll! We have had some great shows in the past month. Theo's was awesome, and Sully's was pretty good too. Singing and playing bass ain't easy, and it was one of the reasons why I switched to guitar (well that and the fact that strings were/are really expensive) but my desire to make the music more primitive is the driving force behind my brave and crazy attempts to conjure up images of Phil Lynott and Gene Simmons: Brutal, sometimes a little ugly, but dead-on to the point! Speaking of the "Bat-Demon", we are trying to con Gene into signing us to Simmons Records. We love Omnicide Records and their West Coast assistance. They are actually the ones who thought up the idea. (We probably don't have the hair to make it happen... but hey, neither does he!) Scott Lawson, SLawsonNoho@aol.com, Northampton, MA)

As a very close associate of Angus young from my school days as a fellow guitarist on his behalf and mine its a great thing to have had the opportunity to have seen Free at Randwick together and to have been able to hear and be so closely influenced by Kossoff. From Angus`s and my early days a good helping of Free Songs in all our repetoires and the obvious legacy of Angus`s vibrato straight and he admits from Kossoff - Cosmo (Sydney, NSW)

'Lo all, Lately I've come to refind Paul Kossoffs playing for many reasons. Timeless indeed.
Still have an old memory of my Dad and his on a long haul flight from Aus on the way back from a religious tv conference and the lengthy chat they had regarding so so many things. I resisted surfing out Free stuff since the advent of the net but just got a DVD of some rare stuff from an m8 in Moscow and it dragged it all back. Strange how you can be drawn back by a long forgotten memory in an instant to such such sadness, niteall, regs s (si, UK south)

Well, change is constant in this old world, and after 5 years of playing live with the same great lineup - Tom and I decided it was time to shake things up a little. We have decided to record our 3rd CD much in the tradition of Led Zeppelin 3, that is, one "side" acoustic and the other electric. We have been performing 3 of the dozen or so new songs (called "Rummy Hop", "So Wonderful" and "Brandy On the Shelf"). So far the vibe has been very bluesy and a bit on the Psychedelic, which is great! New drummer Joe Lemieux has a Charlie Watts kind of vibe, and I am very much in search of the OVEREND Watts vibe on bass (minus the platform boots and the bat wings, of course!). We look forward to these new shows over the next two months (practically more than what we have done in the past 5 years combined!) with the power trio and pairing up with our friends in Doubting Tom (an original modern pop outfit from Massachusetts). To all the Mambophiles, Mambocites, Mambociles and Mamboritos all over the world... thanks for your kind words and interest in our tunes. It means a lot, and it keeps us burning! Rock on, Scott (Scotty Mambo, SLAWSONNOHO@aol.com, Northampton, MA)
______________________________________________________________
To Mambo Sons - I recently bought BOTH of your cds and really dig them. Tom - great guitar. Scott - Great words and attitude. Looking forward to seeing you live. My best tunes are River Is Wide, Habints of Mine and Little Live Thing (girlfriends favorite song). Mark R. (Mark R., Belchertown, MA)

Scotty here! We miss playing shows with the Sons lately. We had a couple of dates at Toads Place on the table, but were unable to swing them. Jeff has a new CD of his own in the can, and Tom and I are still demoing up things with 13 new songs. Meanwhile Mike has a few projects going on, and played on most of Dirk's disc. I, in the meantime have been playing my arse off with Orange Crush.. including two nights at the Chicken Box in Nantucket http://www.ocrush.com but we should have another Mambo Sons show soon!
Hey UK... can we play with the Darkness?? I think we would give them a run for their rock & roll money! What do you think? Peace, Love and Dath Metal, Scotty PS - Just bought a house in Northampton.. moving in January! (Son of king of Leon, SlawsonNOHO@aol.com, Northampton, MA)

hi Mambo Sons , greetings all the way from Belgium in Europe . I am on the same wavelenghs as your great music ; as a singer songwriter arranger producer often quoted to be in the lines of Bob Dylan . ( I recently got a message from Steve Weber , who played also with Bob , and met Elliot Landy , who did the cover of "" Nashville Skyline "" and a book with many unreleased pictures of him ... CD Baby is also great . Heard from you through the one and only "Bahama Kin" . I would appreciate a message from you on my guesbook to this old difficult Belgian music scene . kind regards , Dave Adrian (Dave Adrian, patrick.roberts@planetinternet.be, Brugge / Belgium)

Tommy & Scotty, DUDES, I am STOKED! "Play Some Rock & Roll" is (as I've already said many times) without a doubt THE FINEST R&R MUSIC I'VE HEARD in at least a decade, probably longer. I am EXTREMELY proud of you AND your band. I sincerely hope that this gets you guys the recognition you deserve. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! See ya soon. "I Should have worn Black" I thought. Then I saw the photos and I whispered to myself, ""The Horror"", but then I thought ""The Genius"". Sign onto the site, and you will see that the last time at the State House, Tom and I wore matching white (it's 1979 with you!), but this time, I showed up looking like I was in Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reffer Band, and the rest of the guys showed up with the Rock and Roll look! Not that it matters, because we rocked harder than ever this time around (that counts getting the representatives of Vermont to succeed from 2001's Big E performance - sorry guys, but you had no amps and Tom decided to point his AC-30 directly AT You, because we took a 40 minute break, and when we came back, you were STILL playing). Anyways, despite the on again, off again nature of the sound, and the organizers acting like the only band they had ever heard play live was Air Supply, we enjoyed playing for all the good hearted souls of Hartfords State House Lunch break (and that means alot of you!) Thanks to Jeff, Mike and Tom for their rare instance of onstage color co-ordination, and unrelenting musical and emotional support. Next time, I will wear something that matches better... like Plaid cheesecloth
Scott (Scott , Florence, MA)

I totally enjoyed your lunchtime concert today at the Old State House...what a great kickin' band you have. I bought both MAMBO SONS cds and will be playing them in the car on my vacation up to the Cape. You guys should be playing at a better venue though, I could see you were being hassled by the volume police. But no one plays the stuff that you guys do! Kevin M. I am particularly intrigued by your song ""Monkeyfinger"". The reason being ""Monkeyfinger"" is the name of the band that I play for!. We are a progressive hard rock/metal band, so I would dearly like to hear what type of cool music you guys play (it must be splendiferous if you have a song called ""Monkeyfinger"") Fully Bru (South African 4 Bye!) When I first heard the Dirty Bones Band, it scared the hell out of me and to tell the truth, I didn't get it. But several gigs later I found myself a certified BONEHEAD. You guys were probably the best, most original but most underappreciated band I've ever had the pleasure of following. Hope you get back together some day. I'll check out the new band too. Did you hear us last night? I brought out the Mandolin and Dobro.. and Tom had an ancient Fender Champ set up to play an old strat thru. We drank Chianti with the ladies (our ladies, that is) and jaunted down to WCCC, where we killed 'em! We sold yet anotehr CD in Croatia! I let the internet know we are in the Top 25 in that country right now (ZZ Top is Number one and two, by the way!). A person on Masslive said ""Dont get a swelled head"". I informed them that I could not spend anymore time on the subject, because my Yugo Limo was waiting for me, and I had to go get my herbal wrap at Babylon Health Spa by 2PM. Rock on everybody... I am off to Denver. Scott (Scott Lawson Pomeroy, PA)

"Play Some Roll and Rock"" is a delightfully tight and eclectic production...as is everything that Tom Guerra is involved in...the kid can flat out play guitar...he has excellent mentors, such as Ian Hunter! Goose (Goose Gosselin, imgoose@msn.com, East Hartford, CT)
______________________________________________________________
"Play Some Rock & Roll" responds to its own command with authority! It is rare to hear music released today which sounds new while truly honoring the roots of rock & roll. The Mambo Sons have a firm grip on the ingredients essential to the completion of a rock & roll record: heart-felt vocals, rumbling, screaming and crying guitars, with a rhythm section which glues it all together. Songwriting and recordings like these should be all over rock radio! Vinny (Vinny Cervoni vcbluzman@hotmail.com Wally World, CT)
______________________________________________________________
For the uninformed, let's first come to an understanding, and that is that Mambo Sons play anything BUT Mambo - this is pure, hard-driving rock and roll of the highest caliber!!! A lot can be said about their roots... sure, listeners are going to find those influences (Mott, T-Rex, Faces, Stones, Yardbirds, Humble Pie, and the Fab Four).... but the true appreciation for this release comes from listening to Tom Guerra (guitars), Scott Lawson (guitars and vocals), Jeff Keithline (bass) and Mike Hayden (drums). Like a well-oiled Rock Machine, these guys have been together for a long time, and the results are obvious to the listener. There are NO ripoffs here - rather, this is a collection of tunes which draw about Mambo Sons' roots - and is evidenced (though sometimes disguised...sometimes blended) on every song. Sure, bits and pieces evoke sounds and memories of tunes gone by, with reverance and respect. And isn't that what music does? It brings about a feeling, an energy ~ but also creates inside the listener an association between the music and memories - some from the past ~ others being created as one listens. The power of ""Play Some Rock and Roll"" comes from the Mambo Sons ability to do exactly that. Any single note from Tom Guerra's guitar, from the 6 string to double-neck, is beyond comparison. And trying to compare Scott Lawson's voice with someone else?? ....sorry, but you'll find yourself saying ""he sounds like..."", but you come up short - he's in a class by himself. And the brillant Jeff Keithline and rock-solid Mike Hayden have played together for 25 years. The overall result is a tightness and brillance that shines like the brighest Rock and Roll star in the sky. GET THIS CD!! PLAY IT LOUD!!! OPEN YOUR MIND!!! and Rock On, because this IS the REAL DEAL!!! Kudos, Mambo Sons!!! I can't wait for the PLAY SOME ROCK AND ROLL CD Release party set for January 10, 2002, at Sully's in West Hartford, CT. Stan Slossberg (stansax1@aol.com, South Windsor CT, USA)

Glad to see people enjoy the new record so much. Thanks for all the kind words. To clear my own consience... I actually have nothing against the ""Nu Garage"" movement... I juts think this record is just as good, and it should get the attention it deserves. As far as the other bands... hey, it's all good... I hope ALL those bands get even more popular (so that we ride on their coattails, naturally, as opposed to the joke of seeing us on a bill with ""Disturbed"") so, I humbly take back what I said about them being ""crrrrap"". I would like to open up for each and every one of those bands when they swing thru Hartford. Peace (from Strawberry Hill) Scott ;-) (Scott Lawson, SlawsonNoho@aol.com, Floho, MARS)

Re: "PSR&R"... Love that rock n' roll. This CD is stronger than your last one and I liked your last one. New one just seems more confident and strong, cleaner and kind of looser, more relaxed in the playing and singing. Rhythm section is killer tight. Also, very impressive production, mixing and textures. Few things stand out, sort of in order of songs, as I can remember them: That first chord of the first tune was so strong, wow, talk about setting the theme. Drum and acoustic guitar sort of break on the second song is inspired and that simi-hollowbody slide guitar is perfect in the song. Love that "Come on Back" song; Beatles-like (hi complement) with very modern punk feel; Leslie was so good I just smiled; and you used it sparingly so it really worked. That "Strawberry Hill" song has the best harmony guitars I've heard in a very long time; when the big trem comes in at the bridge it opens the song up; wonderful ideas and execution. Also, River Is Wide has a terrific Dead-style feel. I'd don't like the Dead much, but I've always liked that airy, open texture and Jerry's pretty, reverb lines. You managed to get that feel, without all the boring Dead baggage. I'd like to hear that one live. It's a hell of a good rock CD. Later, Sean (Sean A. Cronin, sean.cronin@cigna.com, W. Hartford, CT)

Tom, I've been listening to the CD now since I received it last week and by the way thanks for signing it for me. Anyway I thought I just pass on some thoughts on ""Play Some Rock & Roll". You guys did great job here I've been really enjoying the Album. I love the concept about the one guy who always shouts this phrase out in clubs and R&R dives across the country. I remember you telling me this months ago and thinking this should one be interesting. You know as Rock music has evolved over the years sometimes it looses it's essence. You hear many Rock Albums but not Rock & Roll Albums, you have made a Rock & Roll Album. IMHO the songs are fun, the rhythms are grinding, bouncy, dance-able, and your guitar work is wonderful you should be proud ! Scott's singing with just a touch of attitude I just love and your rhythm section is dead on. I think my favorite cuts are ""I Get Around Too Much"", Blame It All On You"", and 'Little Live Thing"". I love the breakdown in ""Blame It All On You"" where it suddenly it's just acoustic guitar and vocals, I thought that was just real tasty. I went out to the MS site and saw all the new pics of you working with your gear and was able to see some of the axes and amps you've told be about. Great Job, Great CD. Mark Cadrain (Mark Cadrain, Barkhamsted, CT)

Just received my copy of PLAY SOME ROCK & ROLL and after several listens, I must admit its the best cd I've bought in years. The songs are memorable, the guitars and drums are where they should be (loud) and the band kicks ass. Please let me know if you guys get down to New Haven soon. Phil (Phil G., N. Haven, CT)

There is no doubt that Mr Keithline rocks. I listened to Jeff Now the other day and wept uncontrollably. A fine artist and pillar of the community, I understand. I'll have to hear them Mambo Sons now. Dr Ronald Cocker (ron.cocker@breathe.com, Aberdeen, UK)

Listen to these MP3 clips from ""Play Some Rock & Roll!"" and you will give all your Strokes, Vines and Hives CD's to the local Used CD store. This stuff makes their ""crrrrap!"" sound limp! By the time you get to the chorus of ""Everything Was Mine"" you too will be convinced of it! Every man and woman has to have this CD. Scott (Scott Singer, NoHo MA)

Hey everybody! Really looking forward to the release of ""Play Some Rock & Roll"" In an era where original music is less about honesty than it is about marketing, I am pleased to say that we recorded 11 songs that just flat out ROCK! Tom sounds great as usual, but in new ways. He has grown. Dirk and Mick managed to play on all the tracks together, and I feel they really helped to define a collective sound for the band. I do believe I had it ""going on"" for this batch of tunes. Tom's riffs are heavy, and the lyrics reveal the true spirit of the Mambo Sons. You will hear songs about lust, longing, rebellion, desperation, sadness and most of all, commitment... because that is what we all were for this record...! Take care and hope to see ya soon, Scott (crush boy) (Scott Lawson, SlawsonNoho@aol.com, Florence, MA)

I SAW PAUL KOSSOFF PLAY MANY TIMES,THE VERY FIRST TIME WAS IN THE MALVERN WINTER GARDENS ENGLAND.(1969) IVE SEEN ALL THE GREATS LIVE, CLAPTON,TOWNSEND, HENDRIX BUT PAUL KOSSOFF FOR SOME REASON PENETRATED MY SOUL. JUST LOVED HIS STYLE, PRESENCE AND SUPERB MUSICANSHIP.

I first became interested in Paul when I saw his performance with Free in the ""Isle of Wight"" film. I then researched further and was sad to hear that he had long since departed at a very young age. Although I like their music, I always thought that Bad Company was a Free clone. Nothing wrong with that. Both were two great groups. I think it's cool that you paid tribute to Paul. Tommy (gimmewotugot@hotmail.com, St. Louis, MO)

Tom- thanks for the discs. Mambo Sons sounds great. Stronger Than Dirt made my day. The WHUS stuff sounds tremendous, it all does. When the CD's arrived, I took the day off from work. I made passionate love with my girlfriend all afternoon to the pure, primal rhythms of the Bones. That's the truth and you can quote me. I always had fun playing with the Bones. I'll never forget the major brawl at Lou's Pub in Eagleville. That was a fun gig because we got to walk out of there in one piece. Anyway, I hope everyone is well and happy. Life here has its ups and downs but is never boring. Here's a trivia question: What band was briefly called Brezhnevski Miscles? Jim O'Neill (oldjimski@excite.com, Greenwich, CT)

Tommy, thanks for remembering one of the original Boneheads and sending me a copy of the new Dirty Bones CD,"Stronger Than Dirt". I'm listening to it right now and the Dirtman said it best...it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end...and a few other places I'd rather not mention. Man, you guys were tight and dirty! We came to a fork in the road and we chose the path least traveled...rock n roll...bone and gristle goes down pretty smooth with a shot of ole Jim Beam. Phil "Goose" Gosselin (imgoose@msn.com , East Hartford, CT)

Re: your article on resonators, I played one of these guitars when they were called Hawaiian steel guitars ,before everyone started calling them ""all"" dobros. Today I still call them steel guitars, because they`re played with a steel DOBRO has always been just a brand name, a very good product. There are some excellent resonator guitars on tge market today. Robert Jones (Lake Charles, LA)

EVEN IN THE YEAR 2002-I WOULD RATHER HAVE FIVE NOTES FROM PAUL KOSSOFF THAN 10 SPEED BOYS
ANYDAY. THE SOLO IN MOLTON GOLD HAS MORE HEART & SINCERITY THAN ANY GUITAR SOLO I HAVE
EVER HEARD. I HAVE HEARD ""A LOT"" BELIEVE ME-BEING A P.R. IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS. THE QUINTESSENTIAL ""BRITISH"" GUITARIST- A LES PAUL - MARSHALL BOY! A VERY UNDER RATED GUITARIST WALTER STOCKER (THE BABYS) MADE A VALIANT TRIBUTE TO HIS HERO RE: BABYS ALBUM ""BROKEN HEART"" NOT ""THE KOSS"" BUT WORTH A LISTEN IF ONLY TO HEAR ""THE KOSS"" INFLUENCE. BRITISH GUITARIST JOHN SYKES ALSO HAS THAT KOSSOFF FLAIR BOTH IN IMAGE AND SOUND. ATTENDING THE NAMM SHOW IN LA,I ASKED GIBSON WHERE PAUL KOSSOFF'S GUITAR WAS RE: HARD ROCK CAFE - THEY DIDN'T KNOW.DO YOU? Shirley (shirleykoss17@aol.com , Glasgow, Scotland)

Great article on Paul Kossoff. He was always & still is a favorite of mine because of his simple but original style. I saw Backstreet Crawler in Higganum a month or two before Koss' death. It was great to see him and he appeared to be having fun & sounded great. It was one of those shows where at least 30 people were there, but the band rocked anyways. What a great night. jeff glynn (jeff.glynn@snet.net Canton,CT)

Reading the biography of Paul Kossoff, and listening to a whole string of Free albums in recent weeks, my mind drifted back to the London pub blues-band scene of the 60s and 70s.We all were aware of Koss' greatness, even then but were equally unaware he would become such a model to blues guitarist students over 30 years later! When Jimi passed away we were all so depressed, but when it came to Paul Kossoff's turn life had become so surreal!
It's only now that I find the time to grieve such a passing, with those great old recordings losing none of their original stinging sensation! I'm so proud to have witnessed such a talent first hand, and to relate the experience to a never dwindling army of young pretenders! Thank you for having this great web-site available to all!

Great job on Mambo Sons! A great listen if you're into straight on rock'n'roll. Could really hear the influences that you listed in the liner notes. I think the 'first' Tom I knew was T-bone of the Dirty Bones. I remember going to see him and the band play at some place in Willimantic in the early 90's. It was a very late night, but well worth it. I also remember going to see them at the Muni and Toad's. Then, Tom became a Delray and I was able to enjoy their music a few times as well. Glad to see, and hear, the music continues! (Maryann Burns, Burlington, CT)
